I’d like to thank the Academy.

I am so excited for the Oscars this weekend. Are you? I love me a red carpet. An Academy Awards red carpet, especially. I love the glitz and glamour. I love the awkward interviews coupled with the fact that most movie starlets never know how to pronounce the designer they are wearing. I like to see who brought their mom as their date and who is or isn’t wearing their wedding ring. I also like the actual awards ceremony. I like the terribly awkward jokes by the presenters who clearly don’t like each other or have any chemistry. No, that’s not right. No one likes those…

It’s always a fun celebration when all of Hollywood comes out to play. And when Hollywood comes out to play, there is usually a Vanity Fair magazine cover with the best of the best. Take a look at the covers from years past.

I love you Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  Okay, so he’s kind of a Baldwin.

Attending the Vanity Fair party after the Oscars is on my bucket list (I’d love to just be a fly on the wall). But since I’m not on the list this year, David and I are making our own Oscars party. We plan to attend the 2nd Annual Oscars Party hosted by The Heights Restaurant and Bar in Columbia Heights, DC. We went last year and had a blast. We have a serious bar tab to prove it. If anyone is in the area this weekend, I highly recommend going. The Heights has created a special food and drink menu inspired by “Best Picture” nominees, as well as a ballot so you can play along as the awards are announced throughout the night. David and I made a game out of it last year and I WON. By a landslide. Weird, because I am so not competitive.

What are your plans?
