DIY: Brass trimmed door
I saw this door in the November issue of Elle Decor and immediately ripped it out for my client files. It’s the “Avenue” door created by the architect A.M. Stern for Lualdi. I LOVE the brass trimming and the classic American raised panel design.
Upon investigating the manufacturers website, I discovered there are many other designs available as well. And loads of colors too. The standard paint finishes for all designs include lacquered dark gray, brown and red. How fancy. And then there are even “Trend Colors” which pretty much include any color under the sun. Who knew doors could be so much fun?
Personally, I think this door would make a sensational DIY project. Although those brass details are metal strips attached to the door, I think the same look could be done with a roll of painters tape, a measuring tape and a tube of metallic gold paint.
