What I’m Working On: Update on Day One.

This week furniture was delivered to my clients home and I wanted to share the snap shots I took the day of. You may remember this room. This was my very first What I’m Working On post, originally titled Day One. You can see the post here. Let me give you the run down of where we are now:

Most of the major pieces have arrived but we are still missing the rug. That won’t come until September. Boo. So, please ignore the dinky little pink and yellow rug. Ignore that star on the wall, too. Oh and ignore the lack of lampshades. Feel free to check out the lamps though (behind the sofa). Those are vintage alabaster lamps that I bought at Refind years ago and I love them. They just need lampshades. Minor detail.

The gold chairs and the turquoise ottoman were recovered by my local upholstery workroom. I love the nailheads that we added along the bottom of the ottoman. I need to find a round table to sit between the 2 chairs. My clients want something large enough that kids can use the able for homework or game or whatever. Surprisingly, this has been a difficult task. Neither of those accent table are staying.

Custom coffee table accessorized with books my clients already owned, adorable little spools that I bought for next to nothing (on a shopping spree at Chartreuse and Co. with Christina from Proper Hunt) and a distressed luggage box that I’ve had in my inventory collection for years. A perfect place to stash remotes.

The next step is to accessorize with artwork. Not much of what you see here is staying. Above the fireplace, I bought cheap vintage botantical prints from a Etsy and am having them custom framed. I want to hang them like this. Two rows of four. I also presented my client with the idea to create silhouettes of their children a la Emily Henderson.

After seeing the furniture in the room, I think we need a long skinny metal/glass table to sit behind the sofa. It looks a little bare. And I would like to paint this like guy (an Italian table I found at Miss Pixie’s) red/pink to match the other end table (which you can kind of see in the coffee table picture).

I will be sure to post after photos once I add the finishing touches!
