These pillows confuse me.

I have always appreciated the “lived in” look and when clients ask for rooms to feel “thrown together” and not so “decorated”, I happily oblige. I get it. I am against “red velvet rope” decorating, too. Having said that, can someone tell me what is going on with the pillows on the cover of this months Veranda?

Veranda July/August issue

I know the “karate chop” is out but is this the next big thing for displaying pillows? Now, remember, this is on the COVER of VERANDA magazine so this was not just some crazy mistake. What is happening here?

So you don’t think I’m totally anti, I do think the lavender/pink and yellow color scheme is gorgeous and I really love the fact that there is no artwork above the sofa. Those are two details that support the effortless and “lived in” look in a good way. But the pillows? Yikes. What do you think?

I certainly like “quotes” today.

Hmmmm….not really sure. It looks like someone was sitting there resting their head but that is a pretty high sofa back so an extra pillow is not necessary. Maybe it is to protect the sofa fabric from people’s heads since the sofa back is high but then that would not be a very friendly and inviting living room, would it? I still prefer a squooshy pillow with a little karate chop in it so I guess I am not a voice of authority on trends.
