Would you be a happy boy or a girl?

Swear to God, I’m listening to the Best of Prince, wanting to write about my obsession with masculine elements in women’s fashion and here comes Diamonds and Pearls over my laptop speakers. BAM. There’s my title. Thank you, Prince (…speaking of masculine/feminine).

I love how masculine dressing for women has come into fashion as a lasting trend; so many suits, trousers, and clothing options falling into the “boyfriend” category. Most of my friends would tell you in a heartbeat that I have a small (okay, maybe not so small) obsession with pants (this includes jeans: insert happy sigh of love). And lately I especially love a masculine pant whether it’s wide leg, low slung or cargo. Now, the trick to wearing this trend is to do so while maintaining your figure and finding your perfect fit. I make it work by pairing these trend right pants with a flowy blouse that can be unbuttoned low (what says “woman” more than cleavage) or a draped jersey top. Or, try wearing a masculine cut pant in silk material (or something similar). Pair this with a proper boyish button up and blazer for the perfect balance of masculine and feminine.

I am also loving all the knitwear available this season. There are plenty of laid back, over-sized and relaxed “boyfriend” inspired silhouettes being made femme in chain-link, crochets or even in girly cropped styles.

Plenty of options for this trend that I highly recommend you try!

Happy Shopping!

xx,

Tyler

When I saw the quote “Happy Boy or a Girl” I knew it had to be Prince related. Glad to know someone else knows pants are not just for boys. I look forward to checking out your blog everyday!
