Sunshine in Stormy Skies.
Gray is such a great neutral, isn’t it? I have been a huge fan of gray since the combination of gray and yellow took us by storm last year. Lighter shades of gray are calming and monotonous (in a good way) and I have used them in all types of interiors. And yellow, well who doesn’t like yellow? But lately, I have been really drawn to rooms using the sunny accent against a heavily saturated background of dark charcoals and even black. Especially black. The surprise of yellow inspires happiness throughout what would be considered a rather cool space. And the use of black and deep grays anchor what can often seem like playful and childish color.
When mixing bold colors like these, its important to keep everything else clean and balanced. Keep the furniture simple, the room uncluttered and the patterns to a minimum (and in monochromatic shades). For fun, I would bring in a few large-scale statement pieces as accents and call it day. Let the contrast of colors do the talking.

Did you notice that not one, but two, of these rooms are Jenna Lyons’ house (She is so cool. I swear I hate her) shot for Domino Magazine. Oh Domino. Let’s take a moment of silence.
