Behind the Scenes at J.Lambeth.
The J. Lambeth showroom at The Washington Design Center has recently undergone renovations to make room for Stroheim fabrics, wallcoverings and trimmings. The new J.Lambeth has planned their grand opening celebration in April during Capital Design Days, so final preparations are being made all around the showroom for the big event. As luck would have it, I happened to be in the showroom a few weeks ago when work was being done on the stock room. One area towards the back (which I probably wasn’t supposed to go in) was filled with rows and rows of memo samples placed in boxes and folders. It just didn’t end.
Typically, the stock rooms are full of multiple shelving units jam packed with fabric samples, keeping all the chaos (organized or not) tucked away out of plain sight. However, I stumbled upon a rare opportunity to see the memos out of their standard hiding places, sprawled out across the floor with a little room to breath. I loved being able to soak in all the colors, textures and patterns at once. I wanted to dig through each box and folder, one by one, immersing myself in a sea of fabrics.
