Highlights from Century Furniture.

I don’t have the most experience with Century Furniture, which I have to admit is a tad embarrassing as a design professional because they are a true staple in our industry. Sure, I’ve presented the occasional piece to clients and I have taken a few laps around the showroom when at the Washington Design Center, but that’s about it it. No wait. That’s not true. The very first design firm I worked for in high school carried the line. So yeah, I am pretty sure that makes me an expert! Only kidding. The Century I remember from that time has definitely changed over the years, just not entirely. While the newest introductions feature the latest design trends and address modern demands, Century has remained true to its roots by continuing to produce its classic signature pieces. In addition, many of those pieces have received minor updates, keeping the line current and fresh. Personally, I was really drawn to the new transitional pieces that incorporate clean and classic silhouettes, raw materials and painted finishes. Take a look at some of my favorites:

Loveseat with blue pagodas

Jefferson Chair

Laurel round ottoman

I also love the twig table from Oscar de la Renta’s collection but the photo didn’t quite go with my Century collage so it didn’t make the cut. It is a favorite though. I also expect to have many more favorites after seeing Juan Montoya’s new collection which debuts at the High Point Market in April. Bring it on.

A special thank you to Debbie, the showroom manager in DC, who took the time to meet with me earlier this week and reacquainted me with the Century line! She also answered my 400 million questions and allowed me to flip through every last page of the catalog. She’s a pro.
